Job title: Head of Inbound/ Outbound Tours
Location: Alkhuwait - Oman
Nationality: Omani National and other Country Nations based in Oman with NOC.
This is a demanding, varied and rewarding role to play in a reputed Travel Company that has marked a niche in the travel trade of Oman for almost 3 decades
Reporting to: General Manager
Hours: 8 am to 1 pm / 4 pm to 9 pm Sunday to Thursday, but these general timings should not restrict executing the responsibilities.
Purpose of this Position:
The Incumbent will formulate a team, encourage and promote Holiday products (Inbound and Outbound)
Advice the Top Management on formulating a plan and strategy to focus on Inbound / Out- bound Tourism, build-up marketing channels and distribution channels, oversee the operations of the Holiday section.
Promote Outbound/Inbound through most competitive source for pricing, create catalogue of readymade packages, Create and promote Group Travel, Individual travel, MICE
(Meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions ) and FITs, Medical Tourism and Destination Tourism etc.
Negotiate with suppliers and Airlines, familiarise and build-up relationship with global suppliers, team-up for marketing through Digital Media as well as through personalised contacts.

Pricing/Costing Readymade Packages, creative activity, updating website based product catalogues, monitoring team work, advising and reviewing marketing strategies

Academic or trade qualifications
Bachelor Degree from a reputed University
Tourism related Diploma and qualification
Acquaintance and participation in various Tourism related Events
Any certificates and appreciation letters for MICE and Event management Experience Certificates
Work experience and skills and areas of knowledge essential
Minimum 10 Years Experience in the related field Oman Experience Preferred
Organise and accompany groups of holidaymakers on tours to a wide variety in Oman and overseas locations.
Responsible for ensuring travel arrangements for holidaymakers run as smoothly as possible from beginning to end, as well as providing them with practical support throughout the trip.
Have in-depth knowledge of a particular area/region and may act as tour guides during the tour. On overseas tours, use language skills and knowledge, for example of the culture or history of an area, to ensure the tour goes smoothly and that holidaymakers enjoy themselves.
The Incumbent should have hands on experience on;
(1) procuring different service sources / out sourcing
(2) should have a complete knowledge about Oman Geographical area, Tourist sites in Oman, heritage sights in Oman, and Desert camping and and necessary arrangements that should be done / procured etc
(3) should have experience in handling outbound for FIT (Free Independent / Individual Travel), GIT (Group inclusive Tour) to different countries / tourist attractions
(4) should be expert to present / structure readymade travel packages to worldwide destinations, and must have specialised to offer different packages like Tourism, adventure, sports, health, family, honeymoon, children fun oriented, heritage, pilgrimage etc
(5) Must have handled hajj pilgrim tours, and should have known the religious and legal formalities in that regard
(6) Should have handled MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferencing, exhibitions )
(7) Should have known or handled Wedding destination parties, that is a key enquiries coming up for Oman
Tour managers usually accompany groups travelling by coach, although on specialist tours travel may be by mini-bus, car, boat, train or plane.
Duties usually include:
Welcoming groups of holidaymakers at their starting point and announcing details of travel arrangements and stop-over points; checking tickets and other relevant documents, seat allocations and any special requirements; helping with passport and immigration issues; assisting holidaymakers check-in and settle into their accommodation; communicating a range of information on itineraries, destinations and culture; informing passengers of arrival and departure times at each destination on the itinerary and ensuring that all members of the group are back on the coach before departing from each stop;
developing a specialist area of knowledge; using professional knowledge to answer questions from holidaymakers and to fulfill their expectations of the tour; making sure all travel arrangements run according to plan and that accommodation, meals and service are satisfactory; organising entry to attractions and transport, such as car hire;
ensuring that the tour is running smoothly for individual members of the group; responding to questions and offering help with any problems that arise, ranging from simple matters, such as directing a member of the group to the nearest chemist, to more serious issues, such as tracing lost baggage; dealing with emergencies, such as helping a holidaymaker who is ill or those needing to contact family members urgently; making contact in advance with places to stay or visit to check details and arrangements; liaising with hotels, coach companies, restaurants and other clients;advising about facilities, such as sights, restaurants and shops, at each destination; making accommodation bookings on proposed dates;
organising and attending tourism events, conferences, workshops, seminars and exhibitions;
writing reports and maintaining records; providing feedback after a tour as part of a debrief session.
