Position Summary:
The air quality specialist, in coordination and collaboration with the air quality supervisor is responsible for planning, designing, managing and implementing the air quality-monitoring program related to health impacts for the unit. The role holder should select the equipments and methods for the monitoring plan and accountable for the continuous assessment of the program. Review, recommend and implement improved policies and procedures is required.
Tasks & Duties:

1. Work closely with the air quality supervisor, to implement the goals, objectives and strategic plans for the Public Health Department in the Health Protection, mainly on Air Quality (AQ) related to public health;
2. Provide support in ensuring the WHO standards in air quality guidelines;
3. Responsible for providing the unit with the best and suitable equipments to implement the monitoring program;
4. Responsible for the designing of the ambient and indoor air quality monitoring plans;
5. Provide support and coordination with other institutes such as Ministry of Environment in AQ programs;
6. Participate and support in monitoring the AQ and practices through field measurements with AQ technologists;
7. Supervise the data collection, measurements, databases, and review monthly and annual AQ statistics. Responsible for the data analysis, evaluation and reporting;
8. Responsible for calibrating the equipments and keeping the maintenance schedules;
9. Provide training to his staff on the monitoring equipment;
1. Participate in the selection, training, and evaluation of AQ technologists;
10. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Head of EH;
11. Ability to handle and apply air-modelling software;
12. Ability to prepare research and studies to assess the risk of exposure to air pollution and to determine the burden on health;
13. To install, calibrate, and process the data from testing instrumentation and equipment and evaluate public health risks;
14. Responsible to prepare reports, budget, and oversee the use of inventory and maintenance of equipment;
15. Assist air quality supervisor in formulating policies and procedures of new air quality management programs;
16. Develop and review reports of findings, alternatives and recommendations;
17. Monitor and interpret changes in regulations related to the air quality program;
18. Ability to analyse and represent data collected from monitoring stations and internal devices and prepare reports and recommendations;

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required):
Skills, knowledge and abilities normally acquired through:
a) Formal Education Requirement
• PhD holder in Air Quality with five years’ experience in the same field with a number of published scientific articles.
• Or Master in the same specialty with 8 years’ experience in air quality.
b) Experience Requirements:
For the.:Ph.D. 5 years of direct experience in the field of AQ and air pollution measurements, ambient and indoor measurements.
For the M.Sc.: minimum 8 years direct experience in the field of AQ and air pollution measurements, ambient and indoor measurements.
