The Job Role:
As a Psychiatrist, you will use your psychiatric expertise to provide mental health evaluations, consultations, and, where required, expert witness testimony. This role offers a flexible, project-based approach for professionals looking to make a meaningful impact on individual cases while maintaining control over their schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for clients in legal, corporate, or healthcare settings.
• Provide clear, evidence-based reports detailing findings and recommendations, suitable for use in court or other formal proceedings.
• Offer expert insights on cases involving mental health, competency evaluations, risk assessments, and psychosocial factors.
• Serve as an expert witness in legal settings, presenting psychiatric findings in a clear, unbiased, and professional manner.
• Remain updated on current psychiatric research, treatment standards, and relevant legal guidelines to ensure accuracy and reliability in consultations and testimony.

Key Areas of Focus:

• Conduct assessments related to criminal cases, custody disputes, and competency evaluations.
• Evaluate and report on individuals' risk factors concerning safety, violence, and mental health stability.
• Provide guidance on treatment plans for conditions such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, and trauma-related disorders.
• Offer clear and professional testimony in court or legal proceedings, when necessary, on psychiatric findings.
• Maintain a patient-centered approach, ensuring that findings and recommendations prioritize patient welfare and ethical standards.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

• GMC registration with specialist certification in psychiatry.
• In-depth knowledge of psychiatric assessments, mental health treatment plans, and forensic psychiatry.
• Proven ability to conduct psychiatric evaluations and deliver clear, impartial reports.
• Previous experience in expert witness services or medico-legal consulting preferred.
• A UK-recognized medical degree in psychiatry, with significant experience in clinical or forensic psychiatry.
• Proven background in psychiatric assessment, ideally with experience working in legal, healthcare, or institutional settings.
• Ability to produce clear, evidence-based reports and communicate findings effectively to legal and non-medical audiences.
• Experience as an expert witness in legal proceedings or consulting within psychiatric contexts is highly valued.
