Hospital Pharmacist
Job Location : UAE
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Makes informed decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals.
• Provides accurate information about over-the-counter drugs and offers recommendations after consulting with patients.
• Counsels patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, interactions, and side effects; provides other relevant drug information as needed.
• Trains and guides assistant pharmacists during work hours, monitoring their performance.
• Establishes and maintains secure storage and record-keeping systems to safeguard pharmaceuticals.
• Takes patient histories when required, conducts initial clinical assessments, and refers patients to suitable clinicians.
• Follows established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement objectives, safety standards, environmental guidelines, and infection control protocols.
• Completes third-party insurance forms and related paperwork.
• Maintains confidential computerized records of patients' drug therapies to prevent adverse interactions.
• Complies with insurance companies' policies and procedures.
• Monitors expiration dates to dispose of nearing or expired items according to policy.
• Ensures the accuracy of every prescription processed.
• Reports any non-compliance with departmental policies to the Chief Pharmacist.
• Ensures adherence to departmental policies among pharmacy staff.
• Pursues ongoing professional development by reading industry publications and seeking best practices in the field.
• Collaborates with other departments to enhance patient experience, aligned with the organization's values of teamwork, partnership, and quality.
