Major Responsibilities:
Representing the RC in technical meetings, value engineering analysis, and providing technical support to the engineering and construction departments during the design and construction phases
Review of geotechnical interpretative reports and working with geotechnical consultants to produce high quality co-coordinated submissions
Experience in field supervision to monitor contractor’s activities, logging and reading borehole logs of soils and rocks, coordinating field activities, laboratory testing, in-situ testing, interpretation of reports and verification of recommendations and design submittals is required
Follow-up on the workload and performance of the geotechnical consultant in the field, lab and office
Coordinating civil or structural engineering design with geotechnical assessment reports
Ensure that the progress of the engineering studies, the schedule of deliverables and the technical requirements of the contract are met
Assists fellow Project and Field Engineers with technical problems to facilitate appropriate solutions
Duties require accuracy, judgment, a high degree of initiative, and sound technical understanding of the geotechnical quality disciplines
Assists with training and mentoring of Junior Engineers to facilitate geotechnical knowledge transfer and skills to deliver all project phases
Identifies opportunities to innovate and improve geotechnical processes, procedures and deliverables
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum M.S. degree in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited institution. Equivalent degree in Engineering Geology or Civil Engineer with post-graduate degree in Geotechnics is acceptable
Registered or chartered engineer (or equivalent) status
10 to 13 years of related experience in Large Facility / Infrastructure projects in the following areas: site explorations, surveys and material testing; report writing, settlement/ bearing capacity analysis, piling analysis, ground improvement, foundation engineering and onshore/offshore geotechnical design
Must be able to write and review Geotechnical Interpretive reports (Geotechnical Design Reports)
Must be able to demonstrate experience of having worked on a wide range of civil engineering and structural projects, with clear understanding of geotechnical design processes and cross-functional input to P&C and EPC Projects
Must be able to demonstrate excellent technical communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence through discussion and reasoning

Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Preferably have a minimum of 3 years Bechtel permanent office experience.
Experience in the field of geotechnics and/or prior extensive work experience in related fields
Geotechnical experience, including contract preparation, supervision and management of investigations, preparation of Geotechnical Investigation Reports (factual), geotechnical design, interpretative reporting and calculations (Geotechnical Design Reports) and construction supervision
Working within multi-disciplinary Consultancy and having completed geotechnical designs in at least three or more of the following project categories: site preparation and earthworks, road, bridges, Industrial buildings, tunnelling, pipelines, port and marine works
Have been in a position where they acted as the Client’s Designated Representative, responsible for reviewing design and technical submissions
Understands standard contract requirements and scope as they relate to discipline work
Self-motivated individual with good leadership and interpersonal skills and experience, with the ability to influence
Ability to manage priorities and take on additional evolving responsibilities with demonstrated experience providing direction/supervising a team
Ability to work within an integrated Royal
Commission/Bechtel team at multiple levels from working level to Project Manager level
Demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders to make critical decisions where required
