Job Overview:
The Associate HSES Specialist works with HSES Specialists / Supervisors to leverage conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures to plan, implement and coordinate HSES programs to prevent or correct hazardous conditions.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Provide HSE leadership to field personnel and set standards of behavior
Have a working knowledge of current HSES policies, procedures, and regulations,
Ensure company HSE policies and procedures are implemented consistently and effectively and are known and understood by all employees
Regularly inspect work areas to identify unsafe acts and conditions and advise line management of those that cannot immediately be corrected
Assist with incident investigations and compilation of reports
Monitor maintenance and inspection of the lifesaving and firefighting equipment
Assist with medical evacuations (medivacs) and respond to emergencies promptly
Ensure HSE communications received from Line Management, such as HSES Performance, statistics, critical communications, etc., are bought to the attention of all employees via the posting of such information on HSES Notice boards and discussion at HSES meetings
Observe workgroups and intervene and advise workers if found committing unsafe acts
Keep supervisors advised of such acts
Observe work groups and provide guidance and coaching to personnel to perform work safely
Observe the condition of the plant (cranes, forklifts, etc.), report deficiencies to the relevant Supervisor
Observe/assist supervision during the delivery of Toolbox Talks
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Degree or Diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in a related field
3 years of relevant experience
Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function
Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken
Be conversant with local and international HSES laws, codes, regulations, and norms
