Job Summary:
The SCADA Engineer will be responsible for configuring, administering, and maintaining Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability. This role encompasses software and server/workstation configuration, user account management, backup and disaster recovery procedures, performance monitoring, software development, and close collaboration with the Service Crew and Data Quality Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience in IT and SCADA solutions, particularly within the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:
SCADA System Configuration and Administration:
• Install, configure, and maintain SCADA software and hardware components to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
• Manage server and workstation configurations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and security protocols.
User Account Management:
• Administer user accounts, including creation, modification, and deletion, while ensuring appropriate access controls and security measures are in place.
Backup and Disaster Recovery:
• Develop and implement comprehensive backup strategies to safeguard critical SCADA data.
• Establish and regularly test disaster recovery procedures to ensure system resilience and data integrity.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
• Monitor the performance of SCADA systems, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
• Generate regular reports on system performance, uptime, and incidents for management review.
Software Development and Enhancement:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop software solutions that enhance SCADA system capabilities.
• Implement software and hardware upgrades to maintain system efficiency and compatibility with emerging technologies.
Collaboration:
• Work closely with the Service Crew to provide technical support during equipment installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
• Coordinate with the Data Quality Specialist to ensure the accuracy and reliability of data collected through SCADA systems.
Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT and SCADA solutions, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in configuring and administering SCADA systems, including software and hardware components.
• Experience with server and workstation configuration, network protocols, and cybersecurity practices.
• Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in SCADA systems, such as Python or C++.
