As a Machine Operative at Doveworth Limited, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery and equipment on construction sites. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently while adhering to industry standards and regulations. You will work closely with project managers and other team members to meet project deadlines and maintain high-quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operate various types of machinery including excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
Conduct pre-operation checks on machinery to ensure they are in safe working condition.
Follow safety protocols and guidelines to minimize risks during operation.
Perform routine maintenance on machines, including lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs.
Monitor equipment performance during operations and report any issues or malfunctions immediately.
Collaborate with site supervisors to coordinate machine usage based on project needs.
Maintain accurate records of machine usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents that occur.
Assist in training new staff on machine operation procedures and safety practices.
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to machinery use.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
Proven experience as a Machine Operative or similar role within the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of heavy machinery operation principles and safety standards.
Ability to read technical manuals and blueprints related to machine operation.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues effectively.
Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with team members.
Valid certification for operating specific types of heavy machinery (e.g., CPCS or NPORS).
Physical fitness to handle the demands of operating heavy equipment for extended periods.
