The Welding Procedure Representative (WPR) is responsible for overseeing welding activities to ensure compliance with approved welding procedures, codes, and quality standards. The WPR acts as a technical liaison between the welding team, quality assurance/control, and engineering departments to ensure welding operations meet project specifications and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Review, verify, and implement welding procedure specifications (WPS) and ensure welders follow the approved procedures.
Monitor welding activities on-site to ensure adherence to project codes, standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, API), and client specifications, including Aramco standards.
Conduct pre-welding inspections of materials, joints, and equipment.
Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors and engineers to ensure quality compliance and resolve welding-related issues.
Maintain detailed records and reports of welding operations, including welder qualifications, procedure tests, and inspection results.
Participate in welding procedure qualification tests (WPQT) and welder performance qualification tests (WPQ).
Ensure proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and consumables.
Identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions related to welding processes.
Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards in all welding activities.
Liaise with client representatives (e.g., Aramco inspectors) during welding inspections and audits.
Provide technical support and training to welding personnel on procedure compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Welding Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3–5 years experience as a Welding Procedure Representative or Welding Inspector in oil & gas, construction, or heavy industries.
In-depth knowledge of welding processes, procedures, and codes (AWS, ASME, API, Aramco standards).
Experience with Welding Procedure Specification (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
Strong understanding of welding inspection techniques and non-destructive testing (NDT).
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to work on-site and handle multiple welding projects simultaneously.
Aramco approval or certification is highly preferred.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to welding operations.
