A Landscape Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing the implementation of outdoor spaces, combining engineering principles with landscape architecture. They ensure that landscaping projects are functional, sustainable, and aesthetically aligned with the client’s and site’s requirements.
The role involves coordination between architects, contractors, and environmental specialists, with a focus on irrigation, grading, drainage, and hardscape/softscape elements.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and review landscape designs and construction drawings in line with project specifications and environmental standards.
Plan and oversee installation of irrigation systems, drainage, grading, paving, and planting layouts.
Ensure all landscaping works comply with local regulations, environmental guidelines, and engineering standards.
Collaborate with landscape architects, civil engineers, and project managers during planning and execution phases.
Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities), technical reports, and material specifications.
Supervise site activities and contractors to ensure timely and quality execution of landscaping works.
Resolve site issues related to soil, water management, and plant selection.
Perform site inspections and ensure that work aligns with drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
Assist in cost estimation, tendering processes, and vendor evaluations.
Monitor the use of sustainable practices, water-efficient systems, and native plant species.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in landscape engineering or construction supervision.
Strong knowledge of landscape design software (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, etc.).
Understanding of irrigation systems, soil conditions, hydrology, and plant sciences.
Familiarity with sustainable landscaping practices and environmental standards.
Excellent coordination and project management skills.
Strong problem-solving and communication abilities.
Ability to work in outdoor and site-based environments.
