Major Responsibilities:
Provides an interface between RC Engineering and the other parties to resolve technical issues. Oversees writing and review of Technical Query’s. Provide support to Construction Department and disposition field changes by issuing DCN’s
Represents the Royal Commission, (the owner), to ensure the safety and quality standards of the project are met in Civil work Highway areas.
Performs civil highway design / design reviews in traditional and digital design environments and coordinate with other disciplines and departments for highway packages.
Utilize computer and computer codes to perform highway designs.
Incorporates lessons learnt and best practices in standard engineering documents such as procedures, design guides, criteria and specifications.
Reviews Urban Planning - Land Allocation Requests (LAR’s).
Coaches one or several individuals or teams on a specific competency or subject area.
Education and Experience Requirements:
University/College graduate with BS in Civil Engineering or related.
10-13 years of relevant experience in Civil Engineering on large industrial and infrastructure jobs with emphasis in planning and hands on design of highways.
Strong design experience is required in Highway Geometric Design according to AASHTO’s standards, highway pavement design, roads safety, roadside design, survey, etc.
Conversant with the standard practices and procedures of International Design Codes and Standards, such as: AASHTO Highway Geometric Design, Road Design Guide, Manual on Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Saudi Highway Code SHC-308.
Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, design calculations, specifications and drawing requirements.
Significant experience with Civil 3D design as well as BIM / Digital Twin design processes and automation techniques.
Hands on experience and proficiency in working with AutoCAD Civil 3D, and related software.
Aligns key stakeholders on strategy for interdisciplinary and cross-functional interfaces and work processes.
Ability to work within a culturally diverse organization, recognizing and respecting differences.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Professional/Chartered Engineer.
Conducts and directs quality reviews of projects, in accordance with engineering procedures and instructions and ensures consistency across project areas.
Detailed understanding of a wide range of international industry or regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the Civil engineering discipline.
Experience with implementation of Industrial Master Plans including utility right of ways, road networks, drainage, materials handling corridors and land allocation.
Demonstrated ability to lead Civil discipline contribution to in-house design projects across the full spectrum of civil design areas including earthworks, roads, drainage
Demonstrated ability taking responsibility for resolving technical issues within the discipline, other disciplines, and engineering staff as well as with third parties (customer, suppliers, and regulators).
Experience in leading process, performance or quality improvement initiatives within a Civil Discipline team.
Commercial awareness of how engineering decisions affect total installed costs, operations and maintenance, how design changes within the discipline impact other disciplines and functions, and the tradeoffs between engineering job hours and construction savings, schedule gains, and risk reduction.
