Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:

Provide technical leadership and engineering support in response to assigned technical requests related to underground power cable design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Review and validate underground cable designs, including conductor sizing, installation methods, shield grounding, thermal performance, and installation methods in accordance with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards for MV cables, best practices and the applicable Saudi NG standards for HV cables.
Ensure full compliance of company cable assets with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards for MV cables, best practices and the applicable Saudi NG standards for HV cables up to 230 kV.
Advise on cable routing, clearances, parallel and crossing spacing, and protection methods for cables crossing pipelines, roads, and hazardous areas.
Recommend grounding and bonding strategies for cable shields and sheaths to minimize circulating currents and induced voltages, in line with SAES-P-111 and IEEE 575.
Participate in root cause analysis of cable failures and recommend corrective actions or design improvements.
Apply strong asset management knowledge to support condition assessment, lifecycle planning, maintenance optimization, and risk-based inspection strategies in line with company corporate standards
Develop and implement strategies, policies, and procedures related to cable asset management, technical assurance, and standards compliance.
Provide consulting and technical guidance to internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders on underground cable design, construction practices, and safety protocols.
Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, and support internal training or e-learning initiatives on underground cable systems and best practices.

Minimum Requirements

As the successful candidate you will hold a:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. Advanced degree is a plus.
Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent certification is preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in underground power cable systems, including: design, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Demonstrated experience in technical leadership, asset development, and technical assurance of underground power systems.
Proven ability to lead technical reviews, respond to engineering inquiries, and provide expert recommendations.
Background in oil & gas, industrial, and offshore sectors is a strong advantage.
Expertise in underground cable design principles, including armored vs. unarmored cables, shield grounding, induced voltage mitigation, and thermal performance.
Proficient in cable sizing, derating calculations, short circuit withstand, and installation methods (direct burial, conduit, duct bank, submarine).
Knowledge of grounding and bonding practices, fire-resistant cable systems, and cable sealing in hazardous areas.
Strong background in root cause analysis, engineering economics, and asset management (including lifecycle planning, maintenance strategies, and risk-based inspection).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Demonstrated mentoring and teaching experience, with the ability to develop and deliver technical training or e-learning content.
Strong policy development and implementation skills, with the ability to translate technical requirements into operational procedures.
