Job Summary
The Process Performance Engineer is a mid-level professional responsible for the routine technical evaluation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of unit operations. This role focuses on ensuring that all processing units and utilities operate efficiently, meet performance targets, and adhere to environmental and safety standards. The engineer will provide regular technical analysis and support to the Operations team.
Key Responsibilities and Scope of Evaluation
The successful candidate will focus on the performance monitoring and evaluation of the following critical units and systems:
I. Core Processing & Conversion Units
Routine Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate daily performance, yields, and key operating parameters for major units including:
Distillation: CDU+VDU (Crude & Vacuum Distillation)
Hydroprocessing: LP HDS, HP HDS, NHDT (Naphtha Hydrotreating)
Conversion: CCRU-131 (Catalytic Reformer), FCC U-61 (Catalytic Cracking), MHC U-051 (Mild Hydrocracker), DCU U-21 (Delayed Coker)
Troubleshooting Support: Provide first-level analysis and technical support to resolve operational deviations and identify root causes for routine performance dips.
II. Treating, Recovery, and Specialties
Efficiency Analysis: Conduct regular material and energy balance checks for gas, treating, and recovery units:
Sulfur & Treating: SGP (Saturated Gas Plant), AMINE REG, SRU (Sulfur Recovery), SWS (Sour Water Stripper), SAR (Sulfuric Acid Recovery).
Specialty Units: BENZ EX 141 (Benzene Extraction), PARAXYLENE U-301, ALKY UNIT (Alkylation).
Compliance Review: Monitor unit performance against environmental permits and internal specifications, particularly for flare (FL) and waste (WW) stream compositions.
III. Utilities and Infrastructure
Reliability Monitoring: Evaluate the operational status and efficiency of critical utility systems:
DHC U-041 (Hydrogen Production) and HPU & PSA (Off-gas Pressure Swing Absorber).
CW (Cooling Towers), WW (Water Treatment), BFW (Boiler Feed Water), N2 & DM (Nitrogen & DEMIN System), Boiler.
Data Analysis: Compile and analyze operational data from Tank Forms, Coke Handling (661), and SLF (Storage loading Facility) to support inventory and throughput planning.
