Job Purpose:

To act as the primary technical liaison between the company and the appointed external Design/Structural Consultancy. The role is focused on coordinating the design process, ensuring value engineering to meet a strict project budget, and managing all submissions for authority approvals within the project timeline.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordination & Management: Serve as the single point of contact and manage all communications, deliverables, and timelines with the external Structural Design Consultancy.
• Value Engineering & Cost Management: Review all structural design proposals, calculations, and drawings with a focus on economy and constructability. Challenge the consultant to provide the most cost-effective design solutions that meet all Saudi Building Code (SBC) and project specification requirements.
• Authority Approvals: Take ownership of the entire submission process. Prepare, compile, and submit all structural design packages to relevant authorities (MODON, Civil Defense, Municipality). Track approvals and expedite responses.
• Design Integration & Review: Use AutoCAD and Revit to actively review, cross-check, and integrate consultant drawings with internal MEP and architectural layouts. Identify and resolve clashes proactively.
• Document Control: Review, annotate, and approve all structural drawings, calculation reports, and material submittals from the consultant before internal release or submission.
• Site Support: Resolve structural queries from the construction team, review any site-instigated design changes for cost impact, and coordinate with the consultant for formal approvals.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Minimum 8-10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in a client-side, contractor, or project management role in Saudi Arabia, managing external design consultants.
• Strong experience in value engineering and cost-conscious design management for industrial projects.
• Expert knowledge of the authority approval process (MODON, Civil Defense) and Saudi Building Code (SBC). A proven track record of successfully securing approvals is essential.
• Mandatory Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for design review, coordination, and markup. Proficiency in structural design software (ETABS, STAAD.Pro) is a plus.
• Must have a transferable iqama.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and coordination skills in English (Arabic is a significant advantage for liaising with authorities).

Preferred:

• Experience in the food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing plant sector.
• A background that includes both consulting and contracting experience.
