Key Roles and Responsibilities
Structural Design & Analysis: Perform calculations for loads (gravity, wind, snow, seismic) to determine the strength and stability of structural elements (beams, columns, foundations).
Computer Modeling: Utilize software like ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RISA, or Revit (BIM) to simulate, analyze, and design structural components.
Documentation & Drawing Review: Prepare, check, and approve structural drawings, specifications, and reports to ensure accuracy.
Construction Oversight: Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, ensure compliance with design plans, and address structural issues.
Collaboration & Compliance: Liaise with architects, contractors, and clients while ensuring all designs adhere to local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
Material Selection: Choose appropriate building materials (steel, concrete, masonry, timber) based on structural requirements and cost-effectiveness.
Forensic & Renovation Analysis: Assess existing structures for deterioration, damage, or for alterations, providing recommendations for repairs or retrofitting.
