Main Duties:
Perform activities within the assigned Credit Risk Strategy that reflect the Group’s tolerance for risk and the expected level of profitability for incurring various credit risks.
Ensure the use of a standardized process for evaluating credit proposals, ensuring all approved credits align with QNB’s Credit Risk Strategy.
Assist the SVP of Risk in creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the department and monitor their achievement on a periodic basis.
Act within the limits of the powers delegated and delegate authority to respective staff, monitoring compliance.
Implement KPIs and best practices for the role.
Promote cost consciousness, efficiency, and productivity improvements to minimize costs, avoid waste, and optimize benefits for the bank.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the key factors influencing the bank's financial and non-financial performance.
Education & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Professional certifications such as PRM, CPA, CFA are preferred.
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a major bank, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity within a risk function.
Excellent oral, numerical, and written communication skills in English; Arabic skills are preferred.
Knowledge of Basel II Accord, especially in credit-related issues and credit modeling methodologies.
Strong quantitative modeling, analytical, and research skills.
Experience working with large and complex data sets; knowledge of financial markets and products.
Proficiency in risk concepts, banking products/operations/systems, relevant regulatory requirements, and International Accounting Standards.
In-depth understanding of credit risk methodologies (e.g., KMV, CreditMetrics), interest rate modeling (e.g., short rate models, HJM, BGM), VAR, and other complex financial risk modeling techniques (highly desirable).
Adequate knowledge of IT systems and applications.
Self-motivated with an eye for detail, capable of working collaboratively and leading diverse teams.
