Key Responsibilities
As the successful candidate, you will be required to perform the following:
Facilitate the implementation of the Company Safety Management System (SMS) within aviation operations, including its objectives and expectations, development of associated safety processes, and participation in self-assessments.
Provide safety support to fixed-wing and rotary-wing aviation operations supporting oil and gas activities, including onshore, offshore, and remote-area aviation logistics.
Inspect and assess aircraft, heliports, helidecks, airstrips, aviation support facilities, hangars, and ground handling operations to ensure compliance with company, national, and international aviation safety standards.
Identify, evaluate, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on critical aviation safety risks and controls related to operational activities such as Fixed-wing and rotary-wing flight operations, Offshore and remote-area helicopter operations, Passenger and cargo handling, Aircraft refueling and fuel quality management, Aircraft maintenance and hangar operations, SIMOPS between aviation, marine, drilling, and ground operations ,Permit-to-work systems, isolation/LOTO, confined space entry, and work at height where applicable.
Participate in aviation-related safety studies and activities using risk assessment and mitigation methodologies, including PHAs, aviation risk assessments, JSAs, incident investigations, compliance reviews, audits, and insurance surveys.
Develop and/or review corporate safety standards, instructions, and procedures related to aviation operations, and formalize them into company-documented practices as required.
Review designs of aviation facilities and infrastructure, including heliports, helidecks, airstrips, hangars, fueling systems, and support infrastructure, to ensure compliance with company, GACA, and applicable international standards.
Assist in the development and review of Emergency Response Plans for credible aviation scenarios, including aircraft accidents, fires, fuel spills, emergency landings, offshore aviation incidents and maintain a working knowledge of the Incident Command System (ICS).
Participate in aviation emergency drills and exercises as an observer or advisor and provide feedback and recommendations.
Respond to aviation-related emergency situations and incidents, either during or after regular working hours, to provide technical safety assistance and advice.
Support the reporting, classification, and investigation of aviation incidents, determination of root causes, and development of recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Deliver Aviation and Loss Prevention specific training to employees and contractors.
Mentor and support the development of other LP personnel assigned to aviation safety activities.
Minimum Requirements
You will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Aviation, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related engineering discipline).
You will have a minimum of 7 years of relevant oil and gas and/or aviation industry experience, with a strong track record of delivering results, including experience in areas such as Fixed-wing and rotary-wing aviation operations, Aviation support to offshore and remote oil & gas activities, Heliports, helidecks, airstrips, and aviation facilities, Aviation Safety Management Systems (SMS), Aviation risk assessments and safety inspections, Incident investigations, audits, and compliance reviews and Emergency response planning for aviation scenarios.
You will be able to Demonstrate knowledge of national and international aviation standards and regulatory frameworks, including GACA regulations and requirements, ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), IATA standards and guidance and other applicable international aviation safety standards and industry best practices
