Job Title: Consultant / Specialist Psychiatrist

Position Summary:
Assessment and treatment of psychiatric and substance use disorders
Leading the Multidisciplinary Team

Employment Details:
Employment Type: Full-time / Part-time
Reporting To: Chief Medical Officer
Working Hours: 48 hours per week

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
Provide high-quality direct clinical care to patients with mental health and substance use disorders
Conduct detailed psychiatric evaluations
Develop comprehensive treatment plans
Provide medication management and individual and family therapy (pharmacological and non-pharmacological)
Assess complex cases and apply appropriate treatment strategies

Rehabilitation and Recovery Support:
Design and coordinate rehabilitation and recovery plans
Address social, emotional, and health needs of patients
Work with multidisciplinary teams to support recovery
Integrate biological, psychological, and social approaches in treatment

Medication Management:
Prescribe medications for psychiatric and substance use disorders
Monitor and evaluate treatment effectiveness
Adjust medications as required

Consultation and Collaboration:
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams
Coordinate with medical professionals, community organizations, and support services
Ensure integrated patient care

Education and Advocacy:
Educate patients, families, and community on mental health conditions
Advocate for patient rights and support within the healthcare system

Research and Development:
Stay updated with latest developments in psychiatry and addiction treatment
Participate in research activities
Apply clinical knowledge, assessment, and critical thinking skills

Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely patient records
Ensure compliance with DHA regulations

Professional Development:
Participate in conferences, training, and seminars
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of best practices

Accountability:
Accountable for services provided and patient outcomes
Proactively identify errors and recommend improvements
Follow organizational policies and ethical standards
Maintain integrity, honesty, and professional conduct
Ensure safety of self and others in workplace
Comply with operational requirements of the facility

Qualifications:
Education:
MD / MBBCh / Board Certification / Master’s in Psychiatry and Addiction

Licensure:
DHA Licensed Consultant / Specialist Psychiatrist
Valid home country license

Certifications:
Board Certification in Psychiatry
Addiction subspecialty certification (preferred)
Valid BLS

Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience as Consultant / Specialist
Experience in mental health and substance use disorder treatment

Other Desired Characteristics:
Strong understanding of psychiatric rehabilitation principles

Language Requirements:
Fluency in English
Arabic or additional languages preferred
