The Mechanical Engineer in the MEP Division is responsible for the design, planning, coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of mechanical systems in construction projects. These systems typically include HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, and other building services. The role ensures that all mechanical works are executed according to project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and applicable codes.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Prepare and review mechanical designs, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Design HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and drainage systems in compliance with local and international standards.
Conduct load calculations, equipment selection, and system sizing.
Review shop drawings and coordinate with other disciplines.
Project Execution
Supervise mechanical installation works at project sites.
Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with electrical, civil, architectural, and subcontractor teams.
Resolve technical issues and provide engineering support during project execution.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all mechanical works meet project quality requirements.
Conduct inspections and prepare quality documentation.
Verify compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements.
Participate in testing and commissioning activities.
Planning & Coordination
Assist in project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Review material submittals and approve technical specifications.
Coordinate procurement of mechanical equipment and materials.
Attend project meetings and provide progress updates.
Documentation & Reporting
Prepare technical reports, progress reports, and as-built documentation.
Maintain records of inspections, testing, commissioning, and project correspondence.
Support project closeout activities and handover documentation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer registration/licensing (preferred where applicable).
3–10+ years of experience in MEP projects (depending on position level).
Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and building services systems.
Familiarity with local building codes and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, SMACNA, etc.).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, BIM tools, and Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of project management software is an advantage.
