Cover letter

Dear Mrs. / Mr.,

My name is Alma Krivdic and I hold Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. I graduated with B.Sc. and M.Sc. at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) in North Cyprus. Medium of instruction was English language.

At the moment, I am working as Math teacher for the Ministry of Education of the UAE. I have undertaken Teacher Training Program when I started working for the Ministry. I have taught students of grades 8,9,10, and 11 both general and advance streams.
My first job in UAE was as Mathematics teacher in the Military High school in Madinat Zayed, Western Region, Abu Dhabi emirate in UAE. School is academically governed by SABIS Choueifat. I taught students of all grades from 7 to 12. I can provide you with experience letter for that school.

Prior to coming to UAE, I was working as IT engineer in The high school for tourism and catering in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Prior to that, I worked as Computer Science teacher in The medical high school in Sarajevo.

While I was graduate student on North Cyprus I worked as teaching assistant at the EMU for courses Calculus I and Mathematics for Business (for engineering and business departments’ students).

Between undergraduate and Master degree I have been working as teacher of mathematics and computer science in Druga gimnazija Sarajevo in national (Bosnian) and International Baccalaureate Programmes as I have mentioned above. I was the first teacher who undertook workshop for teachers in Middle Years Programme (International Baccalaureate Programme). This was essential for school because without it school would not be able to certify and open Middle Years Programme. I was also responsible for adjusting curriculum for this program with Bosnian national programme as required from Ministry of Education for Canton Sarajevo. I have listed all duties I had during this period in my resume.

After job in Druga gimnazija and studying in France, I have worked as teaching assistant at Sarajevo School of Science and Technology. I was teaching following courses: Calculus I, Calculus II, Discrete Mathematics, and Statistics.

After years of experience in educational sector, I decided to move to industry and I got job as engineer developer in IT firm called Zira ltd. That IT firm was specialized in developing applications for telecoms. I worked in development and implementation phases of production and deployment of fraud management application for detecting fraudulent activities of customers of telecom towards telecom.

I have had taught many students of different economical, educational, ethnical, and cultural backgrounds. However, I always managed to introduce them and make them understand and love world of mathematics. Even for those, who had problem with English for example, it was possible to learn mathematical concepts with hard work and proper practicing. I have had students that I taught at high school level (in IB school) and then after at university level as well. It was a big satisfaction to see them progress thru years.
Apart from teaching Emirati students at the moment, I have taught Arab students at the university in North Cyprus (Jordanians, Lebanese, Egyptians, Libyans, Tunisians, Moroccans, Syrians, Iraqi). I personally believe that the biggest success for educator is when students start understanding and liking sciences and humanities. If we are able to pass our passion for those into them, our work is almost done.
Many of my students continued with successful academic and professional career in Bosnia and abroad (US, UK, Switzerland, Turkey, EU, Jordan, North Africa, and so on). One of them is even commercial pilot at the moment.

I am fluent in English as my undergraduate and Master degrees were both in English and working experience too. I have lived for nine and a half years outside Bosnia in North Cyprus, France, the United States, and at the moment the United Arab Emirates. I am very communicative and I can easily adapt to the environment. Except that, I am learning fast and I am ready to undergo all necessary training in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Alma Krivdic
