The Job:
Our Team is currently seeking a strong Data Center Technician to support both company-specific servers as well as data center buildouts at customer data centers.
The ideal candidate balances strong technical hardware, physical network set up, and verbal/written communication skills, who are also are highly analytical with superior attention-to-detail, self-motivated, and a positive, humble ‘results driven’ attitude.
This person will serve as a mentor and trainer to other Service technicians in the field. Technicians are also expected to provide feedback, create documentation on both technical and non-technical processes, and contribute to our knowledge library that can be leveraged by others, for example KB Articles, SOP, lessons learned, etc. Additionally, the Tech will be both internal and external facing with the ability to lead and drive initiatives as assigned to a conclusion.
Key Responsibilities (Physical Network Setup):
• Troubleshooting network issues across Layer-1, Layer-2, and Layer-3.
• Managing cables: making, cleaning, running, and labelling.
• Assisting with switch setups and confirming network connections.
• Updating port maps and tracing cables.
• Conducting controlled experiments to pinpoint root causes.
Performing failure analysis through:
• Testing hardware, system, or firmware.
• Collaborating with internal teams and customers.
• Supporting global field deployments:
• Maintaining deployment equipment and software.
• Learning and training on new products.
• Assisting field technicians with real-time issue resolution.
• Monitoring server fleet health for trends and SLA compliance.
• Using Linux and Windows Command-Line for hardware troubleshooting.
• Leading pre-work meetings to align on requirements and expectations.
• Providing daily status updates.
• Developing and implementing customer initiatives.
• Supporting field activities by creating SOPs, knowledge articles, and guides.
• Training on new issues, processes, and tools.
• Ensuring detailed and accurate documentation and feedback to engineering teams.
• Managing pre- and post-work project follow-ups.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
• Minimum 4+ years of experience as a data center technician with server hardware troubleshooting and networking skills.
• High school diploma required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently or more with assistance.
• Capability to work autonomously or in a team, including remote teams.
Hardware Troubleshooting Skills:
• Extensive knowledge of server hardware and component failures.
• Experience in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) or Failure Analysis.
