The Purchasing Specialist will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods and services required for construction projects. This position requires collaboration with various departments to understand project needs and ensure that procurement aligns with organizational goals. The Purchasing Specialist will also monitor market trends to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their performance.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the company’s objectives.
Identify potential suppliers through market research and networking.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.
Manage the procurement process from requisition through delivery, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Collaborate with project managers to determine material requirements based on project specifications.
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
Monitor market trends to anticipate changes in supply chain dynamics that may affect procurement decisions.
Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance based on quality, delivery time, cost-effectiveness, and service.
Resolve any issues related to procurement or supplier performance promptly.
Prepare reports on purchasing activities for management review.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within the construction or engineering industry.
Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms from suppliers.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess market conditions and supplier capabilities effectively.
Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) for effective collaboration across departments.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
