The Assistant Superintendent will support the Superintendent in overseeing daily operations on construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders including subcontractors, suppliers, and project managers to facilitate effective communication and workflow.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and supervising all construction activities on-site.
Monitor project progress and report any issues or delays to the Superintendent.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies by conducting regular site inspections.
Collaborate with project managers to develop schedules and allocate resources efficiently.
Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including labor hours, materials used, and equipment status.
Facilitate communication between field personnel and office staff to ensure alignment on project goals.
Assist in managing subcontractors by providing guidance on performance expectations and quality standards.
Participate in project meetings to discuss progress updates, challenges faced, and solutions proposed.
Support training initiatives for new employees regarding safety protocols and operational procedures.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in construction supervision or management roles.
Strong understanding of construction processes, techniques, equipment, and safety standards.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Proficient in using construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera) as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to identifying potential issues before they arise.
