The Procurement Officer will be responsible for overseeing the procurement activities within the organization. This includes sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent negotiation abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with organizational goals.
Identify potential suppliers through market research and networking.
Evaluate supplier proposals and conduct negotiations to secure favorable terms.
Manage supplier performance by monitoring delivery schedules, quality standards, and compliance with contractual obligations.
Collaborate with project managers to determine material requirements based on project specifications.
Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier communications.
Conduct regular market analysis to identify trends in pricing and availability of materials.
Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints while maximizing value for money in procurement decisions.
Prepare reports on procurement activities for senior management review.
Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and provide effective procurement solutions.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management within the construction or engineering sector.
Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to secure advantageous contracts.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for evaluating supplier proposals.
Proficiency in procurement software systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Strong communication skills both written and verbal; ability to build relationships across various levels of the organization.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing procurement practices in the construction industry.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
