Job Scope:
Responsible for patients with medical problems generally considered to fall his specialty. Consultant will maintain compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of Hospital, Ministry of Health standards for the Department; He will also plan, directs, administers and supervises activities for Gastroenterology patients. Reports to the Medical Director on matters relating to the operation of the patient care division and maintain contact with the Head of Department.
Job Responsibilities:
Diagnosis and treatment of patients referred to department and responsible to run his/her own clinic.
Responsible to provide the highest quality of service to the patients under his/her care within the resources provided by the program.
Responsible to investigates, diagnoses and treats medically and/or surgically all patients referred to him /her with conditions problems appropriate to his specialty and will determine the need for clinical investigations and physiological testing appropriate to making his diagnosis, and will undertake the management of the patient's condition, with appropriate follow up.
The Consultant will undertake interventional procedures, as part of the patients' treatment and/or to reach a diagnosis, where appropriate, in line with his delineated clinical privileges.
Provides supervision to the department registrar working in Emergency and inpatient Units if needed.
Participates in teaching programs in the Department and its sections, regular seminars, promotes clinical investigative work.
Ensures implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the Hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations and the Department Policy and Guidelines.
Performs all surgical procedures according to the clinical privileges granted to him/her.
Provide supervision to the department registrars within the department.
Responsible for directing, planning, managing, and coordinating operations for the patient care activities.
Handles administrative and operational matters relating to the activities of the Division and consults with Head of the Department as required.
Responsible to provide the highest quality of service to the patients under his/her care within the resources provided by the program.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
PhD/Royal College/Fellowship/Membership in Gastroenterology
Minimum 9 years post Phd /Fellowship/Membership experience in relevant specialty
Job-Specific/Technical Skills:
Good communication skills.
Knowledge of Required Organizational practices/patient safety standards.
Command over professional code of ethics, medical bylaws.
Knowledge of evidence based Age specific/ Population specific patient care clinical guidelines accepted by the hospital.
Culturally competent (Kuwaiti patients’ culture and beliefs).
AHA certified Basic Life support provider
