The Sommelier is a wine expert responsible for curating and presenting wine selections, enhancing guests' dining experience through expert recommendations, and managing the wine program. They provide exceptional service, educate staff and guests about wines, and ensure proper storage and handling of wine collections.
Key Responsibilities:
Curate and maintain an extensive wine list that complements the menu and appeals to diverse customer preferences.
Assist guests in selecting wines by providing knowledgeable recommendations based on their tastes and meal choices.
Serve wine professionally, ensuring proper pouring, presentation, and etiquette.
Educate staff and guests about wine varieties, vintages, regions, and food pairings.
Manage wine inventory, including stock levels, ordering, and storage to maintain quality and cost efficiency.
Maintain the wine cellar temperature, humidity, and cleanliness to preserve wine quality.
Stay updated on wine industry trends, new products, and region-specific developments.
Collaborate with the culinary team to develop wine and food pairing menus.
Provide excellent customer service to enhance overall guest satisfaction.
Handle billing and documentation related to wine sales.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward, or in a similar role.
Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varieties, tasting techniques, and food pairings.
Certification from recognized wine organizations (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET) is preferred.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Knowledge of wine storage, preservation, and cellar management.
