The QC Coating Inspector is responsible for monitoring and inspecting surface preparation, painting, and coating applications on various structural, piping, and equipment components to ensure compliance with applicable standards, project specifications, and client requirements. The role is crucial in maintaining quality standards, preventing corrosion, and ensuring the longevity and safety of assets.
Key Responsibilities:
•Conduct visual inspections and quality checks during surface preparation, coating, and painting activities.
•Ensure coating processes comply with relevant standards (e.g., NACE, SSPC, ISO, ASTM).
•Monitor environmental conditions (e.g., humidity, temperature, dew point) to ensure they are suitable for coating application.
•Verify surface profile, cleanliness, coating thickness (DFT), and adhesion using appropriate testing methods and instruments.
•Review and ensure proper implementation of method statements, ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans), and work procedures.
•Identify and report non-conformances (NCRs), assist in root cause analysis, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.
•Maintain accurate inspection records, logs, and reports in line with project and company requirements.
Qualifications:
•Diploma / Degree in Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
•Certification in Coating Inspection – e.g., NACE Coating Inspector Level 1/2/3, BGAS-CSWIP, or equivalent.
•Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in coating inspection (preferably in oil & gas, marine, or construction industries).
•Familiarity with international standards such as SSPC, ISO 8501, ISO 12944, and others related to surface preparation and coating.
•Knowledge of QA/QC procedures, inspection documentation, and project quality requirements.
