The Senior Electrical Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement process for electrical materials, equipment, and systems for construction, industrial, or infrastructure projects. The role involves identifying suppliers, evaluating technical specifications, negotiating contracts, ensuring timely delivery, and aligning procurement activities with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Review project electrical specifications, BOQs, and drawings to determine procurement needs.
Source and evaluate suppliers and manufacturers of electrical materials (e.g., switchgear, transformers, cables, lighting, panels).
Prepare RFQs, analyze quotations, and ensure technical compliance with project specifications.
Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to ensure cost-effective procurement.
Coordinate with engineering, project, and site teams to align procurement with project timelines and milestones.
Monitor supplier performance, lead times, and ensure quality and timely delivery of materials.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
10+ years of experience in procurement within electrical engineering or construction sectors.
Strong knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and materials.
Experience with technical submittals, vendor prequalification, and specification compliance.
Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
Familiarity with ERP/procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.).
Strong communication, coordination, and reporting skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Knowledge of international electrical codes and standards (IEC, NEC, etc.) is a plus.
