Lead Piping Design Engineer (Offshore Project)
Job Location : Abu Dhabi, UAE
Responsibilities :
• Lead and manage all piping engineering activities for the offshore IA/PA upgrade across multiple platforms at Umm Shaif Super Complex (USSC). Ensure safe, compliant and constructible piping designs aligned with ADNOC Offshore standards across FEED, EPC, construction and commissioning phases.
• Act as the piping discipline technical authority and provide approvals, guidance and decisions for piping/layout engineering, ensuring compliance with ASME B31.3, ADNOC CoPs and project design basis.
• Lead package piping integration and vendor coordination for instrument air compressors, plant air compressors, twin-tower dryers, air receivers and interconnecting skid piping. Review vendor GAs, nozzle orientations, connection sizes/elevations and hook-up drawings.
• Oversee piping material engineering: validate piping classes, MTOs, pipe supports, clamps, spring hangers, insulation, painting and pressure class selection.
• Drive brownfield tie-in engineering: identify tie-in points, validate routing feasibility in congested areas using site surveys/laser scans, assess access and maintenance clearances, and prepare brownfield modification packages and risk registers.
• Govern 3D model reviews and multi-discipline integration for compressor areas, dryer skids, receiver placements, routing optimisation and clash avoidance. Lead structured 3D model review sessions (30/60/90%).
• Review and approve piping stress analysis including compressor suction/discharge lines, dryer lines, receiver connections, large-bore piping, thermal expansion and vendor nozzle loads.
• Provide piping discipline input to HAZID/HAZOP/ENVID/SIMOPS and support process safety, fireproofing, hazardous area and escape route compliance.
• Coordinate daily with EPC piping/mechanical/structural/electrical/I&C teams, compressor/dryer OEMs, ADNOC operations/PMT and third-party survey teams. Ensure timely closure of comments, TQs and interface issues.
• Perform QA/QC oversight for welding/NDT/hydrotesting, fabrication drawings, spool numbering, offshore lifting and installation feasibility. Participate in FAT/SAT as required.
• Support construction and commissioning: oversee offshore prefabrication and installation, validate supports and alignments, review hydrotest records, line flushing readiness and provide final piping acceptance for mechanical completion.
• Manage documentation and deliverables: review and approve P&IDs, GAs, isometrics, MTOs, ensure ADNOC numbering compliance, maintain comment/TQ/interface registers and provide weekly discipline reports.
