The Shift Supervisor Nurse is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff during their assigned shift, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, maintaining clinical standards, and managing daily operations. The role involves supervising staff, coordinating patient care, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff during the shift.
Ensure all patient care activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and according to established protocols.
Provide clinical guidance and support to nursing staff as needed.
Monitor patient conditions and escalate concerns to physicians or senior management.
Ensure accurate documentation of patient information and care provided.
Manage staffing levels, assign tasks, and ensure adequate coverage.
Promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
Conduct handovers and shift reports effectively.
Ensure compliance with infection control, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Assist in training and mentoring new or junior staff members.
Handle patient complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Diploma in Nursing.
Valid RN license or equivalent certification.
BLS, ACLS, and other relevant certifications.
Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
