Role Purpose
The Food Production Supervisor supervises and manages day-to-day operations in the salad and vegetable production facility, ensuring all products are processed, packed, and delivered in compliance with HACCP, ISO 22000, food safety standards, and customer requirements. The role requires maintaining productivity, minimizing wastage, and enforcing high standards of hygiene, safety, and quality throughout the production line.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
• Supervise and coordinate daily operations of washing, cutting, sanitising, mixing, and packing of salads and vegetables.
• Allocate tasks and manage workforce to ensure timely completion of production schedules.
• Monitor machinery and equipment to ensure smooth operation and report any breakdowns or maintenance needs.
• Ensure accurate weighing, portioning, and labelling of all products.
• Track yield, wastage, and productivity to meet company efficiency targets.
Food Safety & Compliance (HACCP / ISO 22000)
• Ensure full compliance with HACCP plans, ISO 22000 standards, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and local regulatory requirements.
• Conduct daily hygiene inspections of staff, equipment, and processing areas.
• Verify sanitation procedures (washing, sanitizing solutions, water quality, equipment cleaning).
• Maintain proper temperature controls for raw materials, in-process, and finished goods.
• Monitor CCPs (Critical Control Points) and ensure immediate corrective actions when deviations occur.
• Ensure allergen controls, segregation, and traceability systems are followed.
• Support external and internal audits (HACCP, ISO, customer, and regulatory bodies).
Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain and verify all production records, including batch sheets, CCP monitoring logs, sanitation records, traceability forms, and non-conformance reports.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
• Assist in preparing documentation for audits and certifications.
• Record and investigate any customer complaints or product rejections, initiating corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Staff Supervision & Training
• Lead, train, and motivate production staff in food hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
• Conduct toolbox talks and refresher trainings on HACCP, ISO, hygiene, and workplace safety.
• Monitor staff compliance with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and hygiene requirements.
• Manage staff schedules, attendance, and performance appraisals.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
• Work closely with the QA team to ensure consistent product quality.
• Identify and implement process improvements to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Support NPD (New Product Development) trials and ensure new products are integrated smoothly into production.
Health & Safety
• Enforce compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
• Carry out risk assessments and ensure safe handling of machinery, chemicals, and raw materials.
• Investigate workplace accidents and incidents, implementing corrective measures.
Qualifications & Experience:
Strong knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, GMP, food safety legislation, and auditing processes.
• Experience in supervising teams in a factory environment.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Computer literacy (MS Office, ERP systems, production software).
