The School Counsellor provides emotional, social, and academic support to students, helping them develop healthy coping skills, improve self-esteem, and navigate personal or academic challenges. The counsellor collaborates with teachers, parents, and administrative staff to promote a positive school environment and support students’ overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and group counselling sessions for students to address personal, social, or academic issues.
Assess students' mental health and emotional well-being, and refer to external professionals when necessary.
Develop and implement programs on topics such as bullying prevention, mental health awareness, and social skills.
Collaborate with teachers and parents to identify students needing additional support.
Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.
Keep detailed records of counselling sessions and student progress.
Promote a safe and inclusive school environment.
Participate in staff meetings, training, and school events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field (Master’s preferred).
Relevant certification or licensure in counselling or therapy (if applicable).
Experience working with children and adolescents in an educational setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and confidentiality.
Knowledge of mental health issues, child development, and school policies.
