The Civil Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering construction projects. This role involves analyzing project plans, specifications, and tender documents to determine material, labor, and equipment costs. The Civil Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to ensure estimates align with project budgets and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze civil engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents
Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to gather necessary data
Identify potential risks and uncertainties impacting project costs
Assist in developing bid proposals and tender submissions
Maintain and update historical cost data and databases
Communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors for pricing and clarifications
Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations relevant to civil construction
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
Provide cost analysis and value engineering suggestions to optimize project budgets
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related field
6–10 years of experience in civil construction estimation or quantity surveying
Proficient in estimation software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel, specialized estimation software)
Strong understanding of civil construction methods, materials, and costs
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and negotiation skills
