A Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, water supply systems, and other civil works. They ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while meeting quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare designs, drawings, and specifications for civil engineering projects.
Conduct site investigations and analyze survey reports, maps, and other data.
Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
Plan and supervise construction activities ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Coordinate with architects, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and project proposals.
Monitor project progress and resolve any technical issues.
Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Conduct quality control and quality assurance inspections.
Assist in obtaining permits and approvals from regulatory bodies.
Use CAD software and other tools for design and analysis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
7–10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering projects.
Knowledge of civil engineering software (AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Civil 3D) is preferred.
Familiarity with construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
