The Host / Hostess is the first point of contact for guests at a restaurant or dining venue. They are responsible for welcoming guests, managing reservations, seating guests, and ensuring a smooth and pleasant start to the dining experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests warmly and courteously as they enter the venue.
Manage the reservation system and maintain the seating chart.
Escort guests to their tables and present menus.
Estimate wait times for walk-in guests and inform them accordingly.
Coordinate table turnover and communicate with waitstaff to optimize seating.
Answer phone calls related to reservations, events, or inquiries.
Monitor the dining area to ensure guest satisfaction and respond to issues promptly.
Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
Assist with special seating requests and VIP guests.
Support service team during busy hours (e.g., clearing tables, setting menus).
