The QC Painting Inspector is responsible for inspecting surface preparation, coating/painting application, and verifying compliance with project specifications, standards (like NACE, SSPC), and client requirements. Their work ensures the protective coatings applied to equipment and structures are of high quality, preventing corrosion and degradation.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect and verify surface preparation prior to coating/painting (e.g., blasting profile, cleanliness).
Monitor application of primers, paints, and coatings according to project specifications.
Ensure coating materials are stored, mixed, and applied as per manufacturer’s guidelines.
Conduct tests like DFT (Dry Film Thickness), WFT (Wet Film Thickness), Holiday Testing, Adhesion Tests.
Record and report findings with detailed inspection reports, NCRs (non-conformance reports), and checklists.
Ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards are adhered to during painting activities.
Verify proper climatic conditions (temperature, humidity, dew point) before and during painting.
Liaise with third-party inspectors, clients, and contractors for inspection hold points and approvals.
Assist in pre-commissioning and final quality walkthroughs.
Maintain and archive all painting/coating QC documentation.
