Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Site Engineer to support a major bridge maintenance project in Abu Dhabi. The ideal candidate must possess hands-on expertise in bridge maintenance activities, particularly related to expansion joints, bearings, and the assessment and rectification of cracks and general wear and tear in reinforced concrete (RCC) structures.
The role requires strong technical proficiency, effective site coordination, and adherence to project and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Execute day-to-day site supervision of bridge maintenance works, ensuring compliance with project specifications and authority requirements.
Perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement activities for bridge expansion joints and bearings.
Assess structural condition of RCC bridges, including identification, classification, and treatment of cracks, spalling, corrosion, and other deterioration.
Coordinate with the project team, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure timely execution of maintenance tasks.
Prepare method statements, inspection requests, work permits, and technical reports related to site activities.
Ensure implementation of safety standards and environmental controls at all times.
Conduct site measurements, prepare progress reports, and update project teams on work status.
Liaise with consultants, clients, and relevant authorities during inspections and progress meetings.
Support quality control activities and verification of materials and workmanship.
Assist in planning maintenance schedules and forecasting material and resource requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
Proven experience in bridge maintenance projects, specifically involving expansion joints, bearings, and RCC structural repairs.
Strong understanding of bridge structural behaviour, deterioration mechanisms, and repair methodologies.
Familiarity with UAE infrastructure standards, municipality procedures, and project documentation requirements.
Valid UAE Driving License (mandatory).
Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities on site.
Preferred Skills
Experience working on Abu Dhabi or UAE government infrastructure projects.
Knowledge of relevant international standards (AASHTO, BS, ASTM) and maintenance best practices.
Proficiency in preparing technical reports and site documentation.
