Role Description:
This is a full-time, on-site position based at Rushmore American School in Sharjah. The School Counselor plays a key role in supporting the emotional, academic, and social development of students across all grade levels.
The counselor will provide individual and group counseling, guide students in career and university planning, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and school leadership to ensure student well-being and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide personal, academic, and social counseling for students (KG–Grade 12).
Support students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health concerns.
Guide students in setting academic, personal, and career goals.
Deliver career counseling and university admissions guidance (particularly for high school students).
Identify and support students in need through collaboration with teachers and staff.
Maintain accurate, confidential records of counseling sessions and interventions.
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student welfare and progress.
Develop and lead student wellness programs, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
Contribute to safeguarding and child protection procedures across the school.
Support and implement the school’s behavior policies and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a school counseling or student support role (school-based experience preferred).
Strong knowledge of child and adolescent development.
Familiarity with the American curriculum and college admissions process is an advantage.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural and inclusive environment.
High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and empathy.
Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is essential.
