The Generator Technician performs preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repairs, and testing of diesel, gas, and standby generators. The role involves working with electrical, mechanical, and control systems to ensure generators operate safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, and test generator systems.
Perform routine preventive maintenance according to manufacturer guidelines.
Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, fuel, cooling, and control system faults.
Conduct load bank testing and performance evaluations.
Inspect generators, transfer switches, batteries, and associated equipment.
Troubleshoot engine, alternator, and control panel issues.
Maintain service records and prepare technical reports.
Respond to emergency breakdowns and provide field service support.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company procedures.
Coordinate with customers, supervisors, and other technicians as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Diploma or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering.
Experience with diesel and gas generators.
Knowledge of electrical systems, engines, alternators, and control circuits.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical manuals.
Familiarity with troubleshooting tools and diagnostic equipment.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Valid Qatar driving license.
Preferred Experience
Experience with generators from companies such as Cummins, Caterpillar (CAT), FG Wilson, or Perkins.
Knowledge of Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and generator synchronization systems.
Experience performing load bank testing and commissioning.
