Summary:
Empty Container Handler (ECH) Operator operates specialized heavy equipment used in ports, container terminals, logistics yards, and freight depots to move, stack, load, and unload empty shipping containers safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate an Empty Container Handler (ECH) machine to lift, transport, stack, and position empty containers.
Load and unload containers from trucks, trailers, and designated storage areas.
Stack containers according to yard plans and safety procedures.
Conduct pre-shift and post-shift inspections of equipment.
Report equipment defects, malfunctions, or maintenance needs.
Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Maintain accurate records of container movements and equipment usage.
Communicate with supervisors, signalers, truck drivers, and other operators to coordinate operations.
Ensure containers are handled without damage.
Keep work areas organized and free from safety hazards.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid heavy equipment operator license (UAE Driving License category 8).
Experience operating container handlers, forklifts, reach stackers, or similar
heavy machinery.
Knowledge of container yard operations and cargo-handling procedures.
Ability to read operational instructions and safety documentation.
Good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
Ability to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays if required.
