Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India.
AFMC is specially known for super specialty departments and as a tertiary care referral hospital. Most of the patients are ASA II and III, which are being referred from different hospitals across South India, which do not have the paraphernalia to get these cases done. So, here one gets tremendous exposure to such types of cases. This department has Urology, Neurosurgical, Obstetric and Pediatric, Reconstructive, Orthopedic and Onco-surgical Operation Theatres apart from different routine OTs. It also has 14-bedded Intensive Care Unit attached to it with a turnover of nearly 1000+ patients in ICU per year.
I have worked as full time Anesthesia Resident in supervised postgraduate anesthesia training program from 17 Jul 2000 and completed my 3 years Residency tenure in Dec 2003(with a break in the training for 6 months because of my pregnancy). The position of Residency in Anesthesia is of high responsibility and involves jobs like managing the Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Unit. Other duties include teaching Junior Residents and managing Surgical Emergencies, attending and contributing to various departmental and interdepartmental academic activities like case conferences, journal clubs, seminars and PG classes. The clinical approach for a patient is multidisciplinary and includes inputs from other Medical Specialties.

Apart from working as a resident in Anesthesia at Armed Forces Medical College, I have worked independently as a specialist at Command Hospital Southern Command, Pune which works in corroboration with the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care, AFMC Pune, from Jan 2005 till Oct 2006 and have given Anesthesia in various
surgeries. I was involved in teaching curriculum in the department for the purpose of teaching Post Graduate trainees. It was the responsibility of the Anesthesiologist to manage the Intensive Care Unit, which I did very efficiently.

I worked as independent specialist officer in Military Hospital Wellington from Oct 2006 till Jan 2009. The hospital is a 99 bedded hospital with 12 bedded ICU set up, with all basic specialties like General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, ENT and Eye. And thus, the anesthesia covers all four specialties including emergency cover.
Posted as an independent Anesthesiologist at Military Hospital Namkum from January 2009 till Dec 2011, which is once again a very busy hospital with multiple specialties and conducted all kinds of surgeries including Neurosurgical cases. MH Namkum is 700 bedded Hospital with 21 bedded ICU set up. Apart from surgeries conducted various clinical teachings for the Nursing staff in relation to the Intensive Care and Anesthesia. Continuing Medical Education (CME) was a routine activity for all doctors posted and I actively participated in all CMEs. MH Namkum is a Pulmonary Tuberculosis center and all procedures related to Tuberculosis used to be conducted under my active participation.
I worked as an Anesthesiologist at Military Hospital Bikaner in Rajasthan from Dec 2011 to Jan 2014 and managed various types of cases like heat stroke management, snake bite cases, gunshot wounds, poly trauma, etc. besides other routine cases.
I took voluntary release from Indian Army Medical Corps in Jan 2014 and obtained fellowship in Interventional Pain Management from DARADIA, the pain clinic, Kolkata, India under observation and guidance of Dr Gautam Das from 01 Feb to 31 Apr 2014. Capable of managing Pain Clinic independently.
Joined SMBT Medical College and Research Center, Nashik as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care and looked after the OT and ICU from Oct 2014 till Jun 2015. Managed highly challenging cases in Neurosurgical and Orthopedics.
Joined Choitram Hospital and Research Center in Indore as a consultant Anesthesiologist from Aug 2015 till Mar 2016. This hospital is NABH accredited, DNB center for Post Graduate DNB students. Actively involved in teaching programs for these students, besides my duties in the Operation Theatre.
I did private practice as a free-lancer in various hospitals from Mar 2016 to May 2017 at Bangalore before joining Sri Devraj Urs Medical College, Kolar as Assistant Professor from May 2017 to Jun 2018. It is a very well-regarded Medical University and Teaching Hospital in Kolar. I completed research work in the hospital within a very short period of 6 months. It is a Post Graduate teaching Institute, and I was involved in various teaching programs. I completed BLS and ACLS Instructor training from St John’s Hospital, Bengaluru during that period and was involved in training BLS, ACLS for all health care workers.
