I am a New Zealand citizen and have been working, and residing, in New Zealand since 2012 after moving from Jordan to further my studying and career. My English communication skills are excellent, with native like written and spoken English ability.
You will find that I am a highly capable English instructor with 12+ years’ experience working in various educational settings using 21st century educational and motivational technologies for teaching. I utilise contemporary approaches for such learning and have a strong background providing private teaching and also from working for an international school as I was an IB Teacher, at Al-Mazaya International School in Jordan.
My CV, attached, details this significant, and diverse, teaching experience in New Zealand and Jordan multi-cultural communities. I am working as an English Instructor and lecturer for refugees at Canterbury Refugee Resettlement and Resources Centre since 2019. My roles are divided into several sections. Such as, I teach the new refugees English language in order to integrate them into society while preserving their cultural background. On the other hand, I prepare the refugees who are ready to enrol in the universities and teach them English in preparatory year and make them able to understand and assimilate the academic English language. The other part of my work is translation the documental, academic and cultural matters of interest to refugees and help them build relationships and engage in their new life in New Zealand. Also my roles have included ESL Teacher, IELTS Preparation Teacher in New Zealand as I have a Master Degree in Applied Linguistics obtained at Massey University, New Zealand. This complements my earlier BA English Literature (English language and literature) from Jordan that gave me a chance to work extensively with non-native speakers of the English language. Many of these students were in New Zealand to work and study. Beside, my Certificate in English Academic Writing for other speakers completed at Massey University/New Zealand, and IELTS Trainer Workshop Certificate from Australia. Now, I am doing TESOL Diploma which helping me in my teaching path especially when I teach students in tertiary level.I also have strong computer skills and hold an IT Skills Diploma Certificate.
Throughout my career I have worked extensively with non-native speakers of the English language. Many of these students were in New Zealand to work and study. I understand the challenges, and potential problems, in learning English as my last research paper for my Master’s degree involved investigating the experiences and challenges that Arabic students or non-native speakers faced during their English language learning.
